Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Praiseach ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information. It's written in plain English, and it's designed to respect your rights under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
The short version: Praiseach is local-first. Your tasks, schedule and settings are stored in your own web browser on your own device. We don't run a database of your personal data, and we don't sell or share it. The only time your information leaves your device is if you choose to use the optional AI feature — and then it goes straight to Anthropic to generate your tasks.
Who is responsible for your data
Praiseach is operated by Ben Francis (the "data controller" for the small amount of processing described below). You can get in touch at praiseachapp@gmail.com.
What information we handle, and where it lives
- Your tasks, schedule, goals, outcomes and settings. These are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. They are not uploaded to a Praiseach server.
- Your account details (demo). If you create an account, the name, email address and any other details you enter are stored only in your browser. This demo sign-in is not a secure, server-backed account — please do not reuse an important password.
- Your Anthropic API key (optional). If you use the AI feature, the API key you paste is stored only in your browser's local storage so you don't have to re-enter it.
- Theme and display preferences, stored in your browser.
Cookies and tracking
Praiseach does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and it does not run third-party analytics. To make the app work, it uses your browser's local storage (a place to keep your tasks and settings on your device). You can clear this at any time through your browser settings — doing so will remove your saved data.
The AI feature and Anthropic
If you choose to describe your day in plain English and have it turned into
tasks, the text you enter and your API key are sent directly from your
browser to Anthropic (the makers of Claude) at
api.anthropic.com to generate your schedule. This processing is
carried out by Anthropic under
their
privacy policy. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information into the
AI box. If you never use the AI feature, no task text ever leaves your device.
Hosting
The Praiseach app itself (the HTML, CSS and JavaScript) is served to your browser from our hosting provider. Standard server logs may record technical information such as IP address and browser type for security and reliability; these are not used to build a profile of you.
Why we're allowed to process this
Where any limited processing occurs, our lawful bases under the UK GDPR are your consent (for example, choosing to use the AI feature) and our legitimate interests in providing a secure, working app.
How long we keep it
Because your data lives in your browser, you control how long it's kept. It stays until you delete it, clear your browser storage, or uninstall the app. We don't hold a copy on a server.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — see the personal data being processed;
- Rectification — correct anything that's wrong;
- Erasure — delete your data (you can do this yourself by clearing the app's data in your browser or logging out and removing the account);
- Portability — obtain your data in a usable format;
- Restriction and objection — limit or object to certain processing.
Since your data is stored on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app or your browser. If you need help, email praiseachapp@gmail.com.
Children
Praiseach is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can contact us first, and you also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page.
