Privacy Policy
Effective date: 6 September 2026 · replaces the version of 24 July 2026
This policy explains how Praiseach handles your information. It is written in plain English and follows the ICO's guidance on the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
The short version: Praiseach is free. There are no payments, no adverts, no analytics and no tracking cookies of any kind. Your tasks and plans are stored on your own device. Two things do leave it, and only when you choose them: signing in (your email address) and the optional AI feature (the text you type). Both are explained below.
Who is responsible for your data
Praiseach is operated by Ben Francis, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the processing described here. You can reach me at praiseachapp@gmail.com — that is the contact route for any question or request in this policy.
Two ways to use Praiseach
How much data leaves your device depends on which one you are using, and the app tells you which on the sign-in screen:
- A device profile. A name and email kept only in this browser, so the app can keep your plan separate from anyone else using the same device. It is a label, not a secure login, and nothing is uploaded.
- An account with an email sign-in link. You give an email address, we send a one-time link, and there is no password at any point. Your plan then syncs between your devices, which means a copy is held on our database provider's servers.
What is stored on your device
The app stores the following on your own device. None of it is a cookie, and none of it is sent to us automatically:
- Your tasks, schedule, goals, projects and settings, in your browser's IndexedDB database (or a local SQLite file in the phone app).
- A small copy of the same data in local storage, so the app can draw the screen before the main database has opened.
- A cache of the app's own files (Cache Storage), so it works offline.
- Your theme choice and which screen you were on.
- Your sign-in token, if you use an account. This is never copied into the local-storage mirror and is never included in an export.
Earlier versions of Praiseach stored a plain-text password, a phone number and a home address. None of the three are collected any more, and any left over are deleted automatically the first time you open the updated app. An earlier version also asked you to paste your own Anthropic API key; that feature is gone, and any stored key is deleted on sight.
What leaves your device, and who receives it

Each of these acts as a processor on my instructions. I do not sell your data, and I do not share it with anyone for advertising.
The AI feature
If you describe your day in plain English, that text is sent to our own server, which passes it to Anthropic and returns a list of tasks. The API key belongs to Praiseach, not to you — you are not asked for one and you are never billed. There is a fair-use limit of 10 AI parses per day; beyond that your text still becomes a task, just without the automatic breakdown.
Anthropic processes the text under their privacy policy. Please don't type sensitive personal information into the AI box. If you never use the feature, no task text ever leaves your device.
Transfers outside the UK
Anthropic is based in the United States, so text you send to the AI feature is transferred outside the UK, protected by the safeguards in their terms. Our hosting and database providers may also process data outside the UK depending on the region a given service runs in. If you would like the current details for any of them, email me and I will tell you.
Why we're allowed to process this
- Contract — running your account and syncing your plan is what you asked for by creating an account.
- Consent — the optional AI feature. You give it by choosing to use the feature, and you withdraw it by not using it.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the service secure and working, which covers server logs and the daily fair-use limit.
How long we keep it
- On your device — until you delete it, clear your browser storage, or uninstall the app. You are in control.
- In your account — until you delete the account, which removes it immediately and permanently.
- Server logs — kept briefly by the hosting provider for security and reliability, then discarded.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, obtain it in a portable format, and restrict or object to certain processing. Two of those are built into the app:
- Download my data (JSON) — in Account. Gives you everything the app holds for your profile, in a portable file.
- Delete account — in Account. Removes your tasks, plans, projects and settings from this device and from our servers. It cannot be undone, so export first if you want a copy.
For anything else, email praiseachapp@gmail.com. I will respond within one month, as the UK GDPR requires, and there is no charge.
Cookies and tracking
Praiseach sets no cookies at all, and runs no analytics, no advertising and no fingerprinting. Everything it stores is necessary to provide the app you asked for, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to click through. The Cookie Policy lists every item.
Children
Praiseach is not intended for children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how your data has been handled, please contact me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, by phone on 0303 123 1113, or by post at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of the page changes with it, and the date it replaced is noted beside it so you can see that it moved.
